Scott Owens is a native of Elkhorn City, Kentucky in Pike County. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1982, Scott forged a successful career in advertising, marketing and management at advertising agencies in Cincinnati, Louisville and Lexington. He also served as President of Kentucky Off-Track Betting, Inc., a consortium owned by Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Turfway Park and Ellis Park.
Scott earned his juris doctorate from the Appalachian School of Law in 2005, and thereafter created the Owens Law Group, PSC, in Richmond, Kentucky, as a general law practice. There, he focused on cases involving serious injuries from nursing home neglect and abuse, car and truck wrecks, faulty products and medical malpractice.
Scott is a staunch advocate for the elderly who have been neglected or abused in Kentucky’s nursing homes. He served on the Board of Directors of Kentuckians for Nursing Home Reform, the leading consumer advocacy group in the state. In 2011, Scott tried to a jury the first nursing home case ever tried in Lexington, Kentucky history. The jury returned a verdict of over $1 Million in Marry Guillette v. Health Systems of Kentucky.
Scott joined the Lexington law offices of Gary C. Johnson, PSC, in 2015. Scott served a variety of clients involved in cases ranging from nursing home abuse, products liability, car wrecks and truck wrecks to premises liability.
Scott returned to Pike County in 2023. He has served as of counsel to Ross Mann Personal Injury Lawyers since that time working primarily with cases involving nursing home neglect and abuse throughout Eastern Kentucky.
Scott is married to Angela Owens and they reside in Elkhorn City, Kentucky.
